  • Man it's been a while.  So outside of school and interviews, here are some highlights:

    - Caught a Wynton Marsalis concert with Winita and Karin.  We even got to hang out with the band backstage afterwards.

    - I went out to Kansas City for an interview a couple weeks ago and got to eat a lot of good food.  The company took us to the Hyatt where we dined in one of those revolving restaurants that give you a view of the entire city.  The next day I had ribs at KC Masterpiece BBQ.  That night we went out to a hole in the wall place called Arthur Bryants.  It was great!  I got the beef sandwich, which was essentially a couple slices of white bread piled high with brisket.  I love how they do take-out at that place.  They put a few slices of bread down on a large sheet of deli-like paper, throw on about a pound of meat, throw some bread on top, toss a couple handfuls of fries on the side and roll the entire thing up into a ball.  That's good eatin and the epitomy of ghettoness!

One interesting thing about KC is that Hallmark is headquartered there.  They even operate several upscale Halls department stores.  So I'm walking around the men's section, surrounded by Armani, Zegna, Prada, and numerous other high-priced brands that end in a vowel when I notice what they're playing for background music.  Given that this store is run by Hallmark, the salesmen are all white-haired old men, and I'm surrounded by copious Christmas decorations as only Hallmark can pull off, I was expecting some soothing Christmas music.  Instead, what do I hear?  "Can I hit it in tha morning, without givin you half of my dough and even worse if I was broke, would you want me/ If I couldn't get you finer things like all of them diamond rings..kill for, would you still roll/ If we couldn't see the sun rising off the shore of Thailand...."  For those that don't know, they were playing Jay-Z!!  Funny midwesterners.

In case you read this, thanks for taking me around town Agnes.

In more life-changing news, I'm moving to Palo Alto.  I'm going to be an investment banking monkey starting in February.  It's time to find a new place and get a new car.  Any suggestions?
